Building Excellence Embracing Family: Dhilju Prakashan.

This feature illuminates more than just the professional trajectory of an Electrical Lead Technical Director—it captures the values that anchor his work: family, mentorship, and a vision of leadership that extends far beyond the drafting table. From bedtime stories with his twins to tackling complex engineering challenges, every milestone underscores a central truth: true impact is measured not merely in structures built, but in lives uplifted.

Over more than two decades in electrical engineering, he has played a pivotal role in shaping skylines, enhancing infrastructure, and elevating everyday experiences for communities across the MENA region. His portfolio spans luxury hotels, international airports, high-security industrial facilities, and sophisticated transport networks. Through it all, one guiding principle has remained unwavering: technical excellence must be paired with a human focus.

At present, he leads electrical technical operations at China State Construction Engineering Group in Dubai, overseeing landmark projects such as the 1.3 billion AED Island Development Project at Jumeirah. His responsibilities encompass project oversight, technical reviews, regulatory compliance, risk management, tender evaluations, and ensuring that each electrical design integrates seamlessly with the broader vision of the development. Projects of this scale demand more than technical acumen—they require collaboration, foresight, and the capacity to guide multidisciplinary teams toward unified goals.

His professional journey has also included key leadership roles at Trojan General Contracting, Aurecon/Zutari, Parsons, and RW Armstrong, contributing to iconic projects like Abu Dhabi’s Midfield Terminal Building, Expo 2020 pavilions, the Mall of Qatar, and RTA’s Intelligent Traffic Management Systems in Dubai. Each presented its own set of challenges—tight deadlines, complex integrations, and stringent regulatory requirements—yet each reinforced his belief in adaptability, precision, and the transformative power of teamwork.

Beyond engineering, he champions mentorship. For him, leadership is not confined to decisions made in boardrooms or on construction sites; it is about fostering the next generation of engineers, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical problem-solving. Guiding young professionals remains a source of pride and fulfillment.

Balancing professional achievement with personal life is equally important to him. His role as a father to twins provides grounding and perspective, a constant reminder of why his work matters. Electrical systems, while complex, exist ultimately to improve lives—ensuring safe, sustainable communities, powering world-class hospitality, and enabling critical infrastructure to operate efficiently.

Engineering can often feel consumed by numbers, diagrams, and deadlines, yet he returns to a core belief: every circuit designed, every cable laid, every switch installed contributes to something far larger—creating environments where people live, work, and dream. Success is not defined merely by technical delivery, but by leaving a lasting, positive impact.

To colleagues past and present—thank you for your collaboration, shared vision, and drive, which have brought so many remarkable projects to life. His journey serves as a reminder: behind every blueprint is a story, behind every calculation a purpose, and behind every structure, a community we strive to serve.

Here’s to building not just structures, but enduring impact that stands the test of time.
